Website Design for a Public School District
Piedmont Unified School District
PUSD's previous website had become outdated and cumbersome to navigate, the result of an accretive build-up of content during its lifetime and in-house management by staff members who were already strapped for time with other components of their job descriptions.
“David redesigned a tired, outdated school district site into a well organized, easily navigated, and easily maintained web site. He was responsive to input and was fantastic in making the changeover to a new server. He has remained responsive and helpful in helping me become familiar with maintence and making corrections as needed.”
--Dan Garvin, PUSD Webmaster
After seeing my design for the Piedmont Educational Foundation, and its response from the community, the PUSD administration asked me to give its own website a makeover as part of its Technology Plan.
Launched in April 2008, the result takes into account District- and community-wide input during the planning process for the site's areas of emphasis and content composition. The site architecture creates a scalable foundation on which the District can build for the future. And perhaps best of all, the user-friendly content management system in place allows school site adminstrators to update content in a fraction of the time it used to take, meaning more frequent updates and greater community involvement.
