City of Piedmont, California

My mandate from the City of Piedmont was for an attractive, simple, easy-to-navigate website that could be updated with timely material as it happened, including City Council agendas and minutes, as well as news items happening in the community. To that end, I designed a template that would be compatible with a user-friendly content management system and integrated a Google Calendar iFrame for updates of important events. Because the previous website had been so confusing to navigate, and to ease the transition, I also implemented a Google Custom Search function.

City Clerk Ann Swift and Technology Coordinator John Tulloch deserve a lot of the credit for the success of the City of Piedmont's website. They were instrumental in crystallizing the website's "program" as defined by the City Council and ensuring I had the necessary content, direction, and feedback all the way through the design and development process. The experience was incredibly smooth for both designer AND client, and it encouraged me to pursue additional municipal government website projects, with a clear model in mind for how the entire process should unfold.
