Minutive, Vol. 24: Apple’s Local Moves, Google Maps Integrations, and More.

Is Apple’s Encroachment on Local Finally Ready for Prime Time?

BY MIKE BLUMENTHAL AND YOURS TRULY
While neither Mike nor I am skeptical that Apple IS ready for Local Prime Time, this lively discussion expands on some of the local search impacts of the major iMessage and hardware updates I mentioned in last week’s Minutive.

Chat Bots Aren’t a Fad. They’re a Revolution.
BY CHRIS MESSINA

Google appears to be killing Google Now branding to make way for Assistant

BY NAPIER LOPEZ
…which makes Google’s schizophrenic bumbling in this arena all the more shocking. At this point it doesn’t even have a singular product with which to chat. BY PERRY EVANS
One of the guys I admire most in the local product space (Perry Evans) has a new one!  While many of the optimization products out there focus on rankings and visibility, this one focuses on conversion.

Slightly Off-Topic:
Arnold Palmer, the Magnetic Face of Golf in the ’60s, Dies at 87

BY DAVE ANDERSON
Not pretending this is even “slightly” off-topic, but it’s hard to imagine my favorite sport without the man who popularized it in, and for, the modern era.
