8 Random Things About Me
So, in the latest reply EVER to a blog thread, I’m getting around to posting my response to Rhea’s 8 Random Things. Somehow I get the feeling I’ll never get tagged again on one of these things – sorry Rhea!!
1 – I don’t really like holidays. Not just “the” holidays, but holidays in general. In fact, I think my favorite one is Columbus Day. I’m just not big on traditional holiday food, odd meal times, sitting around all day, or helping to clean up after the meal. Or the fact that EVERYONE has the day off and most stuff is closed. Somehow, a random Tuesday, May 23rd when I’m the only guy taking the day off is more fun for me.
2 – I’m probably the only SEO ever to be interviewed on ESPN. Some of you may know that I run an NCAA basketball website part-time. Somehow, a producer from ESPN’s now-defunct Quite Frankly with Stephen A. Smith found her way onto my site back in 2006 & I was flown to New York for the taping. I think they were a little surprised that I was only 23 years old. Sadly, a Tommy Haas tennis match condensed the length of the show to only about 35 minutes & my segment only lasted about 8 of them.
3 – I own a pair of bright orange corduroy pants, which I wear appx. 3-4 times a year. I’ll leave this one to your imagination.
4 – I have never been to a rock concert, and I’m not all that broken up about it. I’m not really into the ear-bleeding variety of music, and I’d rather spend my money on other things.
5 – I’ve never had a cup of coffee, and I’m not all that broken up about it. I am getting into energy drinks a little these days, but coffee has just never really appealed to me as a morning drink. I don’t want to get addicted to the caffeine. I don’t mind the taste as a dessert (like with chocolate-covered beans, or an icing on a cake), but for some reason, find the smell repulsive in the morning.
6 – I’m a Virgin Radio junkie. I listen an average of 8 hours a day. VR Classic Rock play 10 songs in a row to start every hour, plus they keep me up to date on British news and most of the commercials are generally hysterical. Leona Graham, Russ Williams, and Guy Jagger truly do rock the planet.
7 – I think perfect weather is 60 degrees, cloudy, and windy. (Preferably with leaves blowing everywhere, but if we’re at the ocean, it’s not mandatory.) I’m just not big on the whole sunny and 70 thing going on here in the East Bay. It’s BO-ring.
8 -My knees get weak when I hear Dave Loggins’ Augusta. It’s better as an instrumental, but Augusta National / CBS have yet to release the rights to the version that they play at the start of every telecast, so you’ll just have to trust me on that. I want them to play it at my funeral.
